Study: Statins Don’t Lower Cholesterol but Increase Cancer and Memory Loss Risk

A shocking number of 610,000 American citizens succumb to heart diseases annually, so it is believed that anything containing high cholesterol levels represents an increased risk of cardiovascular issues.
Due to this, numerous people use drugs to lower cholesterol levels in their blood.
Apparently, studies have shown that the most popular drugs of this kind, statins, fail to provide positive effects, but increase the risk of memory loss and cancer instead.
Statins are a drug family prescribed to lower bad cholesterol levels in the blood of the patient.
Yet, the Vascular Health and Risk Management journal published a report which found that these drugs work only 18% of the time used, indicating that they are most of the time, or 80% ineffective!
What’s even more disturbing is the fact that despite failing to properly do their job, these drugs actually have serious side-effects, including:
  • They cause high blood sugar
  • They significantly raise the risk of type 2 diabetes
  • They cause constipation
  • They cause memory loss
  • They cause diarrhea
  • They cause rashes
  • They cause drowsiness
Additionally, statins have been related to rhabdomyolysis and myositis, which are conditions which cause muscle inflammation and damage, and rhabdomyolysis also leads to kidney failure and even death.
Moreover, statins have also been found to lead to cancer. Current Oncology reported that they raise the cancer risk in older people, and especially amplify the risk in the case of breast cancer, prostate, and bladder cancer.
Studies have also shown these drugs lead to an upsurge in the production of the pathogen-fighting white blood cells (T-Cells), and thus weakening the immune system and making the blood more prone to cancer.
The statins became popular due to the belief that high cholesterol levels caused heart diseases, and cholesterol was in fact thought to be the leading cause of these issues.
Yet, Dr. Beverly Teter, who deals in biochemistry (University of Maryland), claims that it is a huge scientific mistake, as cholesterol, in fact, solves the problem with the inflammation.
She believes that scientists made this mistaken conclusion because they discovered that it was largely accumulated on the blood vessels.
According to her, the lesion on the blood vessels is caused by the inflammation, and the body deposits the cholesterol in an attempt to prevent additional damage.
She suggests consumption of anti-inflammatory foods in order to reduce the risk, instead of just consuming low-cholesterol ones. She recommends the use of natural fats and fatty acids (omega-3).
The following foods are beneficial in this case:
  • Hickory nuts
  • Eggs
  • Flaxseed oil
  • Wild salmon
  • Edamame
  • Pecans
  • Walnuts
You should avoid the following foods:
  • Crackers
  • Margarine
  • Non-dairy creamer
  • Cake frosting
  • Pie crust
  • Deep-fried food
It is of higher importance to always be careful and try to lead a healthier lifestyle and consume a healthy diet. Also, in order to prevent such issues, avoid processed and deep-fried foods, as they raise the risk of heart diseases.
